Yelverton Valley is a family owned and operated vineyard, where two generations work together to produce wines of outstanding quality in the place that we love.
In 1997 the Cook family purchased 32 hectares of land on Yelverton Road, with the intention of their daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Simon White, establishing a vineyard and enjoying the lifestyle that this region affords with their young family.
The idea came about primarily through our love of the south west region and our love of wine – it seemed like a fantastic idea when we talked it through over a couple of bottles of red!
Our property was purchased primarily for the outstanding quality of the soils .The land was originally cleared for pasture and has a winter creek running through it and is bordered by State Forest.
Our aim in establishing the vineyard was to utilize the gravelly loam soils of the property to produce the finest quality wine grapes possible. Our philosophy is that a fine wine begins with a well managed vineyard consisting of well balanced vines. We aim to grow classic varieties on great sites and the vines are meticulously maintained and cropped at low levels to optimize fruit, and hence wine quality.
Since 1998 we have planted 2ha of merlot, 2ha of shiraz, 2 ha of cabernet, 2.5ha of chardonnay,1.5ha of semillon, and 1.5ha of sauvignon blanc.
After ten years of hard work establishing the vineyard, our dream is now being realized with the release of the Yelverton Valley label.
We are convinced that once you try our wines you will be amazed that such high quality Margaret River wines can be purchased at such affordable prices.
