LATEST NEWS FROM THE VINEYARD Now that the vines have shut down for winter it’s pruning time. Although the mornings have been icy ,there hasn’t been much rain which would be welcome. The long sunny days have made the monotonous job of pruning has been a little bit easier to bear, however! The importance of pruning can not be underestimated, as the pruning of the vine is a major factor in determining the crop load during the growing period. Prune too much and the vine will produce less fruit, prune too little and there will be an overabundance of fruit with the possibility of each bunch not receiving enough nutrients to produce lush full flavoured wine.
